How we'll look after your information when you complete the Macmillan Money and More East of England referral form.
Why we need your information
The data being gathered for the purpose of Macmillan Money and More East of England Service. Hertfordshire County Council and our delivery partners will use this information to complete a benefits and financial wellbeing check and advise you on any entitlements to benefits and assist you with claims/your case.
This information is being gathered and will be processed on the basis that you are giving consent for us to do so. If you wish to withdraw consent at any time you can do so by contacting mauadmin@hertfordshire.gov.uk.
If applicable, the information you have provided to us will be used alongside additional information obtained from a financial support check.
What we will do with your information
The information you give us will be held by the Money Advice Unit at Hertfordshire County Council and will only be used to provide welfare benefit and financial health and wellbeing advice, specialist casework, and community-based support that responds to the social, financial, and health-related needs experienced by people affected by cancer.
In order to deliver this service, we may share your information with Suffolk County Council or Central Bedfordshire Council, based on your location.
In order to deliver the service, this information will only be available to other county council staff who have a legitimate right to that information.
We may need to share the information with the relevant benefit authorities, health professionals and Macmillan professionals.
We may also need to share information with partner organisations, for example, if you ask us to refer you on to an appropriate service. In these circumstances we will keep a copy for our records.
We may also share information with other third parties where we are legally obliged to do so, for example if it is necessary for safeguarding purposes.
How long we will keep your information
The information that you supply to us will be kept on file for 7 years from the closure of your case.
What are your rights?
Hertfordshire County Council will be the Data Controller for this information.
You have the following rights in relation to this data:
- to be informed about what information we hold about you and how we use it
- to request copies of any information the Council holds about you by making a subject access request
- have information we hold about you corrected if anything is factually inaccurate
- to object to the way we are using your data
- to request that your data is deleted. However, we may be unable to delete your data if there is a need for us to keep it. In this case you will receive an explanation of why we need to keep the data
- to request that we stop using your data while we consider a request to have it corrected or deleted. There may be some circumstances in which we are unable to do this however we will provide an explanation if this is the case
- to request data we hold about you in a format that allows it to be transferred to another organisation in certain circumstances
- to request that decisions taken using automated processes are reviewed by a member of staff and to challenge them.
